Beautiful Day for Pics

It was a gorgeous day out the other day we were outside enjoying it to the fullest. Emmy was playing in the grass and loving it, and I was able to snag some precious pics of her. I tried to get some of Bryden, but she was mega cranky and wanted no part of it! Well, I guess you can't always get a smile! The first one of Emmy is my favorite. Enjoy!

Pumpkin Carving

Well, pumpkin cleaning anyway, we are working on the carving part of it. We wanted to roast seeds, so Bryden helped me clean out the pumpkins...messy business! Enjoy!

Pumpkin Pickin'

YAY! We had our annual family trip to the pumpkin patch at Ashland Berry Farm today and what a gorgeous day it was! Our friends Samantha and Jarratt came down from DC and Rachael and her parents Sherry and Ashley came with us as well as Uncle John. The weather was beautiful and there were TONS of pumpkins to pick from. The girls searched high and low for their perfect pumpkins, and finally found them! We tailgated for a couple hours and had a great time hanging out with great friends and got to eat some YUMMY food (thanks for all the contributions guys!). Here are some pics of our great day! The Girls Playing

Funny story...yesterday Bryden was coloring on some paper and wanted to hang her art work on the front door. She was very proud of herself and wanted to show me. When I was looking at one page, I realized she had written letters, C A D E. I told her that her letters looked very good and that I was proud of her. She said, I wrote "Katie" (a friend of hers). I looked at it again trying to figure it out, and she then sounded out the word, which sounded like "C-A-D-E". I was stunned that A) she sounded the word out all by herself, B) she associated letters with each sound, and C) she was able to write the letters of the sounds she made. How cool! She spelt her friends name the way it sounded to her!

Funny Videos

Here are some cute videos of the girls recently. Enjoy! Bryden and Emmy have this incredible bond already, it is so neat to watch the two of them together. Emmy completely lights up when Bryden plays with her, and Bryden always wants to hold Emmy and love on her. Bryden can make Emmy giggle the best belly laughs, and we can tell she really enjoys making Em smile. Both girls' eyes sparkle when they make eye contact with each other and you can feel the love resonate like they have this unspoken language between them. This video is just a small glimpse of what the relationship is like between them and the fun they have.


This is a video of "The Emmy Rock" as I have affectionately named it. It is hilarious to watch, and we are trying to figure out if it means anything or is just something that makes her comfortable. It may not look like all that much from the video, but let me tell you, she does this ALL THE TIME! Anytime she is in the high chair, she will rock...not the whole time, but alot of the time. She gets this kind of zoned out look about her and places her palms on the table and just rocks, then, she just snaps out of it and smiles and interacts and plays, then goes back into it again after a while. She also does it in her exersaucer, and this is even funnier, because her legs get involved and go the opposite direction of her upper body. Her feet look like a marionette or something. It has really become quite comical for our family, so here is a little glimpse. Enjoy!

The Girls

Here are some recent pics of the girls. Emerson is thinking about crawling, she will go out on her hands, but still keeps one leg tucked under her, and she goes up on one foot. She gets out there and you can just see her mind thinking, "OK, what now?" So far, she hasn't gone the next step, although once or twice this weekend, she did walk out so she was on both knees! Bryden stayed home a couple days last week with a cold, but is feeling better now. We had company all weekend, and I didn't get the camera out too often, but Travis and Marcy did, so hopefully they will send us some pics because I know they got some good pictures of the girls.

Apple Pickin'

Second annual apple pickin' weekend! Aunt Chandra and I took Bryden, Emerson and Bryden's friend Rachael apple picking up in Charlottesville. The picks weren't as good as last year, but we managed to find some yummy apples to steal away with...about 75 pounds worth! We walked all over the orchard and were all pretty crabby when we left, but we had a great time while we were there! Enjoy the pics!
